Sports / MMA & Wrestling — The RAF 14 results from Fontainebleau in Las Vegas on Friday night read like a changing of the guard written in shutouts. Arman Tsarukyan needed roughly 80 seconds to beat Dillon Danis by 10-0 technical fall and claim the vacant Real American Freestyle middleweight crossover title, Khamzat Chimaev dismissed UFC Hall of Famer Robbie Lawler 11-0 in the co-headliner, and — in the result that may age best of all — Michael Caliendo beat Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs 7-5.

The main event was supposed to be a grudge match. It played out as a demonstration. Tsarukyan, a top UFC lightweight contender, pushed Danis out of bounds in the opening exchanges, took his back to build a 3-0 lead, and kept scoring until the technical fall ended it at 10-0, according to MMA Junkie's live results from Fontainebleau. The one moment of danger came after the whistle: Tsarukyan stepped over the downed Danis in a show of dominance, security rushed the mat, and the heated rivals — who had brawled at Thursday's press conference — had to be separated before a handshake finally closed the scene. Tsarukyan told interviewer Chael Sonnen afterward that the feud will not be over until the two meet in the cage.

The full RAF 14 results card

Every result on the Fox Nation-streamed card, as reported by MMA Junkie: Arman Tsarukyan def. Dillon Danis via technical fall (10-0), to win the vacant middleweight crossover title; Khamzat Chimaev def. Robbie Lawler via technical fall (11-0); Lucia Yepez def. Sarah Hildebrandt via points (8-7), to retain the strawweight title; Sebastian Rivera def. Vito Arujau via criteria (11-11), after trailing 10-1 in the third period; Michael Caliendo def. Jordan Burroughs via points (7-5); Ridge Lovett def. Jordan Oliver via technical fall (13-2), to win the vacant lightweight title; Yonger Bastida def. Zach Elam via points (9-1); Akhmed Gadzhimagomedov def. Mekhi Lewis via points (5-4); Bella Mir def. Hope Chase via technical fall (10-0); Pat Downey def. Magomed Magomedkerimov via pinfall in the second round; Brendan Allen def. Alexander Shlemenko via technical fall (10-0); and Dylan Ragusin def. Juan Archuleta via technical fall (10-0). Six of the twelve matches ended by technical fall or pin — a night of mismatches at the top, and genuine drama in the middle.

Khamzat Chimaev — his 11-0 technical fall over Robbie Lawler was the co-headliner of the RAF 14 results in Las Vegas

Chimaev makes a Hall of Famer look ordinary

If Tsarukyan's win was fast, Chimaev's was faster in feel. The former UFC middleweight champion took Lawler — a UFC Hall of Famer competing for the first time since his July 2023 retirement fight — down inside 25 seconds, added a gut-wrench turn to stretch the lead to 9-0, and scored again to end it 11-0 with 20 seconds remaining in the first period, Bloody Elbow's live coverage reported. Lawler, who had spent the week calling for better conduct after the press-conference brawl, simply had no answer to the pace. Chimaev's reward is already booked: a crossover championship meeting with Colby Covington in three weeks at RAF Abu Dhabi on November 14 — a grudge with years of talk behind it, now with a title attached.

Why this matters

RAF — Real American Freestyle, co-founded by Izzy Martinez and Chad Bronstein — is betting that freestyle wrestling, a sport Americans mostly watch every four years at the Olympics, can carry a professional promotion if the names on the mat are famous from somewhere else. Friday was the strongest evidence yet for both halves of that bet. The crossover stars delivered the spectacle the streaming audience came for: two UFC names, two technical falls, a combined 21-0 scoreline. But the night's most consequential result belonged to a pure wrestler. Caliendo's 7-5 win over Burroughs — an Olympic gold medallist and one of the most decorated American wrestlers of all time — is the kind of result that gives a young promotion a sporting story, not just a celebrity one. A promotion that only sells MMA fighters wrestling will exhaust its novelty; a promotion where an Olympic champion can genuinely lose has a sport.

The brawl that sold the card — and nearly spoiled it

Context matters here, because RAF 14 nearly became a story about Thursday instead of Friday. At the press conference, Danis unveiled a shirt mocking Chimaev, Tsarukyan charged, Chimaev followed, and security had to shield Danis as the stage dissolved. Lawler's response — that competitors need to set a better example for young viewers — was the adult voice of the week. Friday, to the promotion's credit, proceeded with no changes to the card, and the post-main-event flashpoint was contained in seconds. The line RAF has to walk is visible in that sequence: the feud sold the stream, but the promotion's long-term credibility depends on the wrestling, not the scuffles, being the highlight package.

What happens next

Three threads leave Las Vegas. First, Tsarukyan–Danis is explicitly unfinished: Tsarukyan wants it settled in the cage, and Danis, now beaten in the format closest to his own grappling roots, has to decide whether an MMA fight against a top lightweight contender is a payday or a problem. Second, Chimaev–Covington on November 14 in Abu Dhabi is now RAF's biggest announced match, a crossover title fight between two of the most polarising names in combat sports. Third, Caliendo–Burroughs demands a rematch conversation: greats rarely leave an upset as the last word. For combat sports fans, the wider calendar stays busy — see our coverage of UFC 335 and the Oliveira–Lopes BMF title fight — while Milwaukee's October rolls on in a different arena entirely with the Brewers' 3-2 World Series Game 1 win over the Rays.
